Welcome to the Frederick Douglass Christian School, serving the greater Chester Community and offering a Christ-centered education for 28 years.  Our exceptionally dedicated staff is committed to preparing a generation of students who are disciplined in godly wisdom, equipped and ready to become leaders in their communities with the goal of advancing the Kingdom of God.  The preparation for life that our students receive will give them the desire to enter the next stage of their education with the confidence, hope and a desire to give back to their community.

The school has a rich heritage of providing innovative programs, hosting thought leaders who support the local community and its efforts to improve the life of its people.  We are blessed to have churches and other organizations that partner with us to accomplish this.  Recently a church partner hosted a science-oriented Vacation Bible School week with our students that was led by a NASA scientist who was part of the team that built and launched the moon rover vehicle. Students learned the foundation of rocket theory and then, built and launched their own rockets.  This was a powerful lesson for students about the possibilities for their own future and what they can accomplish by thinking new thoughts about their life journey and seeing themselves on a successful journey with new ways of charting different paths that portend great things for their future.

Our school is a place where faith and academics are combined daily to provide students with opportunities to learn in ways that support their faith in Jesus Christ through action.  We experienced this collision when a middle school student decided to volunteer at a food pantry run by his teacher’s church because he wanted to help his community during summer recess.

The configuration of our school, allowing a maximum of 15 students per class, also supports relationship building among peers and with the staff available to model Kingdom living in a world that would mold them into its own way of thinking and living.  These small classes provide a family-like atmosphere in which each individual is valued for his/her own uniqueness and supported for who s/he is, even as they learn the critical responsibility to respect authority.

If you’re looking for a school that will prepare your child for the life that God intended for him/her to live, consider FDCS – a school that has the rigor to ensure growth but not so harsh that will discourage, is disciplined without giving up the structure a child needs to feel safe, and is transformative but not so unforgiving that the needs of the child is not considered.  If this you, we welcome you into our family.

Thank you.
